Sedona Psychic Johanna Carroll
Sedona Travel book and Sedona Travel Guide
Johanna Carroll has lived and worked professionally in Sedona for over 15 years. As a result of this she was contacted and worked with the Elderhostel Program of Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff as a spiritual Sedona travel guide. She is well versed in the mysteries, history and geology of Sedona and feels her life there has been literally a Sedona travel book. Additionally, Johanna was also invited to teach courses at Yavapai College in Sedona on spiritual development and psychic phenomena which were very well attended by locals and visitors to Sedona. Here are some Sedona travel guide suggestions for you as your own story of Sedona unfolds to touch your heart and soul.
My Sedona travel book story started many years ago when I was invited to go to a seminar in Sedona on New Year’s Eve. I met a group of ladies in the airport in Phoenix which is the airport you should fly into to reach Sedona. You also have a choice of taking a small puddle jumper plane into Flagstaff from Phoenix, but I need to tell you it is a bumpy yet glorious view ride. To reach Sedona from Phoenix it is about a two hour drive into the high desert and in the spring gorgeous. It is a fairly simple drive with lots of curvy roads. If you have never been to the Southwest, you are in for a treat!
We arrived in Sedona around dusk and the clouds were hugging the tops of the red rocks as Sedona is known for. I felt I could really write a Sedona travel book because the beginning of the journey was a start of an entirely new way of life for me. I felt as I looked at the clouds and the red rock mountains with the sun creating a sea of color I had literally arrived in heaven. It was and still continues to be breathtaking. As a man in Basha’s parking lot (our local wonderful grocery store) said to me once while we gazed at the purple and pink sunset, ‘you know, this is why we live here.’ Glorious.
There are four main roads that take you into Sedona. The Interstate 17 from Phoenix, then Route 260 through Cottonwood, a little town south of Sedona, and 89A which is our main street. You can access the Village of Oak Creek by taking Route 179 off the 17. Interesting comment that these roads add up to the number ‘8’ (i.e., 1 + 7 = 8) which in metaphysics mean total manifestation, as above so below. We have a saying in Sedona, that if the Gods and Goddesses love you and support your journey and you are not spit out by the vortexes after two years, you will achieve great manifestation and success, which I truly did as a result of living here.
Sedona was founded as a town in the early 1920’s and the name came to be because of the need of a post office. In order to have a post office, you had to name the town so one of the founders named the town after his wife Sedona Schnebly. The Schnebly family still has descendants that live and work in this little town of the red rocks and vortexes. The town is small you can basically drive through it is less than 30 minutes however it is divided into three main areas. There is uptown Sedona which is very touristy, lots of little shops and restaurants and very busy on the weekends with day trippers. This is a great place to walk around, visit shops and the Cowboy Bar, where John Wayne was filmed doing his bar fights in westerns filmed in Sedona in the 1950’s. Many of the canyons were used to film westerns and have those names now as street names like Stations West. You can take a red, pink or yellow jeep tour with a range of choices to take you into the canyons and they are a lot of fun….bumpy but fun. Good for the entire family. These can be found in uptown area which is north 89A.
The town is broken down into these areas: uptown, West Sedona and the Village of Oak Creek known by locals as the ‘village’ or VOC. We have one wonderful movie theatre, tons of spiritual shops and Tlaquepacque is our large shopping center which was designed after a town in Mexico and has a true Southwest flavor and charm. Great place for lunch and dinner and art galleries. There are many hotels, motels and charming B&B’s. Lots of good restaurants; make sure you do lunch at Enchantment, the view is amazing. Tons of walking and hiking trails and you can rent mountain bikes as well OR just sit by the pool, and gaze into the sky at night where we have no street lights so the stars put on a show all by themselves. This is high desert living at its best.
They say location is everything in real estate and this is why Sedona is such a jewel for living and buying real estate because it is an oasis with moderate weather all year although we do experience seasonal changes which are pretty mild it is a wonderful place to live and visit. My first house in Sedona was shown to me in a dream of all things and I always follow my intuition and am glad I did! I wrote three books in this town, have filmed three TV specials and met people from around the world. This little town of the red rocks opened many doorways for me and truly inspired me to live an exceptional life dedicated to helping others on their spiritual path.
I would suggest you absolutely create your own Sedona travel book and perhaps hire a Sedona travel guide or at least take a little tour. I have created a Sedona CD that will basically tell you everything and then some. Sedona……….well, as we say here, SedonaAHHHHHHHH……..a place US Today called the best little town in the US. Come and visit and fall in love with our town. You will be happy you did!
