When I first arrived in Sedona, I didn’t have one source to learn what I yearned for about Sedona. I wanted to know the practical history on how the town was formed and named Sedona, so I set out to find information that would give me the history of the town. I learned about the Schneblys, the beginning of the town, and how in the 1950’s it was a movie making center for westerns. I was totally amazed one day while in line at the grocery store, when a guy with a holster and set of guns was standing in front of me! Imagine this Connecticut woman thinking, wow, I really am living in the Wild West!
I had to research my information from a variety of sources and people and as a result really learned so much about the magic of this town. What you will hear on this MP3 file The Soul of Sedona, is a total compilation of all my years of research both practical history and the spiritual teachings that make this town so unique. Even if you are just interested in traveling to Sedona and not on a spiritual quest, I think you will find the teachings unique as I made sure I was getting the real facts and truth, not just some local folklore which by the way is rampant here. For instance, while sitting out at the seven sacred pools in a canyon with a client one day, a tour guide came up with a group of tourists and started talking about the time General George Custer was here at these very pools watering their horses. I wanted to choke because tour person, excuse me General Custer never came this far. It was disturbing to me that misinformation was given and people were paying for it so I decided to make this MP3 CD for you.
I hired a Native American guide to teach me the history of the land and the sacred places of Sedona they still honor in their ancient vision quests. I spoke with geologists about the soil, the time of the glacier splitting the canyons, and why the rocks are really red. I found out about magnetic fields and quantum psychics. As a result, I was asked by the University of Northern Arizona to teach programs to their Elderhostel Program clients when coming to Sedona which I did for two years. We had a great time learning about the ‘woo woo’ things of psychic stuff and then the practical nature of this town Sedona.
